Pingxiang University is a full-time public university approved by the Ministry of Education. Founded in 1941, it is an application-oriented undergraduate institution with engineering as the main focus, liberal arts and sciences as the foundation, and multi-disciplinary mutual support and coordinated development. The campus covers an area of 796,500 square meters, with a building area of 361,500 square meters. It currently has 12,956 full-time students and more than 800 faculty members.
Dedicated to cultivating high-quality talents who meet the needs of local economic and social development, the university has 11 secondary schools including the School of Materials and Chemical Engineering, the School of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, and the School of Business. It offers 35 undergraduate programs covering disciplines such as literature, science, engineering, and education, aligning with Pingxiang’s characteristic industries like industrial ceramics, mining machinery, and fireworks.
Adopting an open and inclusive approach, the university actively promotes the internationalization of education. It has established stable cooperation and exchange relations with universities and scientific research institutions in more than 10 countries including France, Germany, Belarus, Singapore, South Korea, and Malaysia. Foreign experts and scholars are frequently invited for academic exchanges. In 2025, the joint undergraduate education program in Social Sports Guidance and Management with Brest State University of Belarus was approved, with 112 students enrolled to date.
The university attaches great importance to building an international faculty, employing 3-4 foreign experts year-round to enhance the effectiveness of leveraging foreign expertise. It also promotes the adoption of advanced foreign science and technology as well as modern management experience, and regularly sends teachers abroad for exchanges and further studies to cultivate high-quality talents with an international perspective.
Upholding the concept of international education, the university deeply promotes the construction of the “Study in Jiangxi” brand and actively builds platforms for cross-cultural exchange and talent training. By optimizing the international education curriculum system and refining support services for international students, it continuously attracts students from all over the world. Up to now, more than 70 international students from over 20 countries including Russia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, and Gambi, have studied at the university.
